Why I boycott Nestle

I ran to Kroger yesterday to get the things to make pumpkin pie. I stopped to pick up a few cans of carnation evaporated milk, but wait! What is that on the label? Nestle. I quickly put it back and grabbed another brand. So, why did I do that? I have been boycotting nestle since I found out what they are doing around the world. Nestle has a bad habit of breaking the rules, knowingly, and this is causing innocent babies to die. I have a huge problem with that. Basically Nestle gives away formula to 3rd world countries. Why is that bad? Because the parents can’t afford to continue to buy the formula to feed the children. Because they do not need the formula to begin with, as babies should be breastfed if at all possible. Giving formula along with breastmilk will cause the mother to produce less and less milk. Then the babies have no formula and no breastmilk to eat. Nestle has continued to do this since 1981.

Here is what http://www.corporatewatch.org.uk has to say:

Artificial milk can harm babies because it does not contain the natural antibodies which a mother's milk provides. It is also extremely expensive, so that in many poor countries people dilute it too much to make it last longer, which causes malnutrition. In addition, the poor quality of water in many of these areas causes babies fed on substitutes to develop lethal diarrhea and infections. Mothers who do not breastfeed will stop producing milk, making the bad choice to use artificial milk irreversible. The latest monitoring report from the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) uncovered about 2,000 violations of the code in 69 countries, with Nestlé responsible for more violations than any other of the big 16 baby food companies and 14 bottle and teat companies.

Halloween 2008

Noah wanted us to make a happy pumpkin, so we did. He had a lot of fun passing out candy in his farmer costume. He was excited. He has discovered what candy is, and thinks he likes it. We let him have some M & M's.

Today we went to the fall festival at church, and had lots of fun. Noah rode the pony, named Prissy. He got his first taste of cotton candy- and thought it was too sweet! He had fun bowling, and throwing bean bags. He even went in the inflatable thing for a few minutes!

We are so blessed to have our miracle mudpie makers. Share our joy and our journey.
